Why you should install Cool Air Intake?

You may have never thought that air is as important for your vehicle as it is for human beings. Proper air intake can convert your car into performance machine.  It is the deciding factor of the performance and mileage of car.  For this, cool air intakes can be installed. This air intake is used to pump cooler air to increase the power and efficiency of engine. The factory fitted parts tend to restrict the engine power as the higher amount or flow of air can increase the noise coming from engine.   The cool air intakes are very easy to install and can be found in market easily. Brands like Fujita intake, Injen, AEM and Airraid are some of the reputed brand names.

These market fitted stocks are known as aftermarket equipments. It takes some modifications here and there which can visibly increase the gas mileage and engine performance. All cool air intakes such as Injen Intakes, KN, AEM and Iceman pump in pure Oxygen which is cooler and higher in density and  used for internal combustion of fuel. The modifications of designing in CAI or Cool Air Intake are:

1)          The air intake pipe is increased in diameter to reduce the velocity of air.
2)      As the diameter is increased, the loss of air is less.
3)      The air intake pipe is made smoother so that air has to face less resistance.
The length of intake is reduced so that the direct contact route could be opted

Using CAI has its own advantage and not-so-advantages.  The installation of cool air intakes is easier than any other performance modification part. There are so many things that are used by vehicle owners to enhance the performance of their vehicles but they are mainly hooked to aftermarket CAIs such as Fujita intakes because these are cost effective and cheaper than the original equipments. The advantages of CAI include increased horsepower and fuel economy whereas the disadvantages comprise throaty noise of engine, hydrolock and voiding of the warranty from the original manufacturer.

One can find many styles and varieties in CAI. They are made of plastic, silicone, or any composite material to make it more durable. Most of the modern cool air intakes such as Injen Intakes use air inbox and made of stainless steel which makes them even sturdier and rust free in the long run.

Delving Deeper into Auto Cool Air Intakes

If you want to increase the performance of your vehicle, you should consider replacement of original cool air intake.  To restrict the engine noise, factory fitted CAIs are very restrictive which also limits the efficiency of engine as well .There are so many of cool air intake (CAI) brands available in market such as AEM cool air intake, KN, Fujita and Injen.  To understand the correlation between air intake and performance of your vehicle, let’s understand the function of CAI.

CAI is an operational system that is used to drain out toxic gases made during the internal combustion in a vehicle. For environmental aspects and cool the gases, cold air mainly oxygen is passed in the pipe..  Mainly a CAI system comprises of cylinder head, turbocharger, a convertor and a silencer or muffler.   Most of the time, the CAIs are also referred as performance exhaust as they boost and amplify the performance of a vehicle.  If you been to local auto store, you may have overheard mechanics talking about KN cold air intake or others.

The benefits of installing a CAI are:
Benefit One:  The engine gets increased horsepower and torque.
Benefit Two: As the diameter of exhaust pipes is widened, the throttle response is increased.
Benefit Three: When the gas prices are increasing day by day, you get increased fuel efficiency.

The Disadvantages of CAI are as follow:

Disadvantage One: As the aftermarket CAI like AEM cool air intake are lower fitted in comparison to the factory intake pipes, water can crawl into your engine on waterlogged roads. So, if the filter gets completely submersed into water, hydrolock can occur. You can use hydro shields to protect your engine against water.
Disadvantage Two:  An aftermarket fitted CAI can increase the noise coming from an engine as the resonance of silencer tubes is increased. Though, most of bike and car owners consider this as desired effect of installing CAI.

Disadvantage Three: Most of the branded auto manufacturers exercise the right of denying auto warranty for vehicles which have aftermarket CAI modification. So, to solve this issue you can consult with the dealer of the company and install CAI only of verified and branded manufacturer like KN cold air intake or Fujita intake.

Transform your Car into Performance Car with CAI

A car which can shake hand with air and see eye to eye with efficiency as well is the dream of every man. Most of us would love to drive a performance car like this, is not it? Well, a fuel efficient and super speedy car is no more a dream as we are revealing the open but lesser known secret to it.

The secret is proper ventilation. If your car is properly ventilated and getting continuous cool air being gutted into carburetor, it can turn into a performance oriented car.   So, for unremitting ventilation, cold air intakes are necessary.  To lower down the temperature of the air going into the car, this system is used. If the air temperature is low, it increases the internal combustion power of an engine. Besides, adding a beauty appeal to the outward appearance of a car, it changes its usual throaty sound to a more sensuous husky one, so to say!

In simple words, cold air is equivalent to more horsepower to the engine. The systems come in the form of cylindrical air tube. This cylindrical tube allows more cooling of the air than the usual ones. Their installation is extremely easy. You would just need a screwdriver and read the instruction manual. Yes, the way to get a performance car is as easy as that.  If you have been just a little familiar with your car, you just need to replace them with the hot intake system you car has.

It is a common perception that a car draws more fuel with cold air intakes, but this is a partial truth. The beauty of installing cold air intakes lies in the fact that they give an increased horsepower to the engine which means more power, more mileage and more speed. Intakes do not come customized or with one-for-all feature. To know which intakes suit your car best, simply go to a mechanic or visit any auto website. Most of the automotive website have vehicle oriented feature, where you just need to insert the name of your vehicle, and they will recommend the intakes and help you improve the mileage of car.
